Paul M. van Brugge (1959, Rotterdam) studied composing and arranging at the Rotterdam Conservatoire with (a.o) Klaas de Vries and Bob Brookmeyer. Since 1986 van Brugge’s composing includes writing contemporary music and film music.

His orchestral works are performed by international ensembles and orchestras such as Clazz Ensemble, Doelen Ensemble, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Metropole Orchestra, Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra at Temple Square and the Westdeutchsen Rundfunk Orchestra.

He composed more then 90 filmscores for features and documentaries by international acclaimed filmdirectors such as Alejandro Agresti, Sonia Herman Dolz, Ramon Gieling, Nana Dhordhadze and Michael King. He was awarded the Condor de Plata Best Music 2004 in Argentina for his ‘Valentin’ score, three nominations and finally the Golden Calf Best Music 2005 in Holland for his ‘Alias Kurban Said’ score, and the USA BIFFY Best Soundtrack Award 2011 for his symphonic score of ‘The Rescuers’.

Since 1997 van Brugge teaches composing and arranging at Codarts Rotterdam Conservatoire.
